EquineAmity – a modified portmanteau of Equanimity and Amity embodies the experience of EAP. Through meaningful work with horses, we can learn to create positive relationships, harmony, and happiness within ourselves and with others.
Hi! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate providing services in Wake and Johnston Counties.
As a lifelong horsewoman and the daughter of mental health professionals, it was only natural that I found a way to combine my two passions. I attended my first EAP/EAL training while in college and in graduate school I interned at a local non-profit utilizing equine assisted psychotherapy. I have been working in the field (literally!) ever since.
Areas of treatment include: stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, ADHD, and trauma; and I have experience working with individuals of all ages. My approach to counseling is person-centered, strengths-based, and integrative; tailoring sessions to the unique needs of each client. I draw from experience with Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based CBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Trauma-informed care. Sessions are based on developing your strengths and changing the patterns in your life that are no longer working.
Training and certifications:
*M.Ed. - Clinical Counseling - North Carolina State University
*Nationally Certified Counselor
*Certified Family Trauma Professional
*Advanced training in Trauma-Focused Equine Assisted Psychotherapy with Natural Lifemanship
